Last night I saw a little red Lotus Elise parked on the side of the street in the Melbourne CBD. Just like an MR2 only
better
, my heart did a little flutter.
Little red blip at the bottom of the picture: be still my beating heart
This morning I saw the same car. Still there. This time my heart fluttered for different reasons.
What have they done to you, little Elise? Who has left you to sit for a whole night in the city? Can they even afford the astronomical fees that come with parking such a park? Will you be impounded? I saw a BMW X6 that sat for weeks with a wheel clamp on it - is this to be your fate?
No more.
Let it be known that I volunteer to take this poor stricken car on board. I will sell the MR2, love and care for this little Lotus as if it were my own. Yes, it’s a great personal sacrifice I’m making but I can’t stand idly by and watch this abuse continue.
Ps. I’m sorry I’ll get a better shot later. Ideally from within my own car port.

Ah the good MR2-Lotus dynamic... I’ve always lusted for an Exige and my first car (wow) like 5 years ago was actually and 87 MR2 and I was like, man, this is gonna be the closest I’m gonna get to an Exige for a while. (Mind you, before I really needed a car, let alone one with more than 5 sq feet of storage. Plus when it decided to actually act its age - not in a good way lol - I could always borrow the spare car)
There’s actually a yellow Elise nearby my office too actually and I see it every few days when I go walk around the area past the other office buildings. One day (maybe a couple times actually), there was a blue Evora parked in the spot where the Elise always is!... I couldn’t tell if a) this company just had an abnormal amount of Lotus fans or b) some lucky fellow owns both an Elise AND an Evora o_O

Elise AND Evora! I hope that’s true because it’s so awesome. It’s like, he needed a practical car so he bought the most practical Lotus , which is just barely a 2+2.
I see a beautiful creamy-pearl Esprit street parked very occasionally. And there’s a guy very near me who daily-drives his current-model Elise. Not sure how far he takes it towards the city, but he’s driving at
least
30 minutes each way. Champion.

Here’s a sad Elise I saw on my commute here in LA Monday morning. Front end was smashed in dead center.

Oh god, NO!
When you crash an Elise and it’s
not
the snap-oversteer that does it
